MSC revised its Empire Service route, replacing Florida's Jacksonville and Miami port calls with Norfolk, Virginia and Port Everglades, Florida. By adjusting the port sequence, the service will be less exposed to port congestion risks, allowing for improved schedule reliability and more consistent on-time arrivals, MSC officials said in a press release. The service also calls at Shanghai and Ningbo, China; Busan, South Korea; and Rodman, Panama, with Port Everglades as the final call on its return to Shanghai. “By MSC selecting our port, it demonstrates that our strategic investments to boost our operational efficiency are meeting global market needs,” said Joseph Morris, CEO and port director. “The Empire Service vessels anticipated to call our port have a TEU capacity up to approximately 8,800, placing them among the largest to berth here and will help speed additional goods to market.” Port Everglades is served by Florida East Coast Railway. MSC also revised its Amberjack service, replacing Norfolk with Jacksonville as the final call in the United States.
