The Bloor station is served by GO Transit, which operates bus and commuter-rail services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area, and Union Pearson (UP) Express commuter-rail line, which connects the Toronto Pearson International Airport with Union Station in downtown Toronto. Improvements include a new covered pedestrian pavilion and tunnel that connects the station to Randolph Avenue, giving residents east of the tracks direct access to the station, Metrolinx officials said in a press release. The project also added 1.6 miles of new track to the GO Transit Kitchener Line between Lansdowne Avenue and Dupont Street to prepare for more frequent service. To make room for the new tracks, crews realigned the West Toronto Railpath, adding a new community park at Ernest Avenue. The upgrades to the Bloor GO/UP Station are part of a larger effort to transform the Kitchener Line into a two-way, all-day rapid transit service. This multi-phase project requires new track, upgraded bridges and modernized stations along the entire route, Metrolinx officials said.
