Hermes Logistics Technologies has signed a SaaS migration agreement with VG Cargo, moving the handler’s Hermes 5 Cargo Management System from on-premise infrastructure to a fully managed cloud environment. The migration will reduce infrastructure and maintenance demands while improving scalability, resilience and system management. The move also creates a foundation for VG Cargo to adopt future AI-enabled capabilities across the Hermes ecosystem. Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT) has announced a new SaaS migration agreement with Hahn-based cargo handler VG Cargo, supporting the organisation’s continued digitalisation strategy and laying the foundation for future AI-enabled cargo operations. The project, which is scheduled to begin this year, will see VG Cargo migrate its Hermes 5 Cargo Management System (CMS) from on-premise infrastructure to HLT’s fully managed SaaS ecosystem. The migration reflects a growing trend across the cargo industry, with operators increasingly adopting cloud-native platforms that improve operational resilience while creating the flexibility to adopt new technologies as business requirements evolve. By moving to the Hermes SaaS ecosystem, VG Cargo will reduce infrastructure overheads, simplify system maintenance and benefit from secure cloud hosting, streamlined version management and improved scalability. The platform also provides a foundation for wider capabilities, including future AI-enabled capabilities across the Hermes ecosystem. Yuval Baruch, CEO at Hermes Logistics Technologies, said: “Cargo operations are becoming increasingly connected, operationally critical and data-driven. Organisations are looking for platforms that not only support today’s operational requirements, but also provide the flexibility to adopt new capabilities as technology continues to evolve. The move to SaaS creates that foundation, allowing customers to benefit from continuous innovation while reducing operational overhead and maintaining the resilience required for live cargo environments.” Jan Krepstekies, Key Account Manager at VG Cargo, said: “As part of our long-term technology strategy, moving to the Hermes SaaS ecosystem was a natural next step. This migration will provide a more scalable and resilient operating environment while reducing the overhead associated with managing infrastructure internally. It also positions us to take advantage of future Hermes innovations as they become available.” Hermes Logistics Technologies has supported cargo operations globally for more than 25 years and continues to expand its SaaS footprint across Europe as cargo operators increasingly prioritise operational resilience, integration capability and scalable digital infrastructure, while creating a foundation for future innovation, including the adoption of AI-enabled capabilities across the Hermes ecosystem.
