One metric tonne of Carabao mangoes has arrived in Vancouver, Canada from Manila, the Phillippines, in a two day operation that involved seven stakeholders across the public and private sector. 250 cartons of premium Carabao mangoes departed aboard Air Canada flight AC018 and cleared customs without issue on arrival. Cargo Air Resources Group of the Philippines, Inc. (a member of TAM Group), the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Air Canada Cargo in the Philippines, has successfully supported the commercial shipment of one metric tonne of fresh Philippine Carabao mangoes from Manila to Vancouver, Canada. The shipment, comprising 250 cartons of premium Carabao mangoes, departed Manila aboard Air Canada flight AC018 on September 19, following a ceremonial send-off at Cargohaus in Parañaque City on September 18. The mangoes arrived in Vancouver on September 20, and cleared customs without issue. The shipment was organized by the Mensch FilAm Corporation in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Export Marketing Bureau and the Department of Agriculture (DA), with logistics support from the Airspeed International Corporation. Vancouver-based Fresh Makers Ltd. received the shipment and is distributing the mangoes to supermarkets and institutional buyers across the Canadian market. As Air Canada Cargo’s GSA in the Philippines, TAM Group coordinated closely with the airline and all shipment stakeholders to ensure the smooth movement of the time-sensitive perishable cargo from origin to destination. “The successful delivery of these mangoes to Vancouver reflects what reliable air connectivity and precise cargo coordination can achieve for Philippine exporters,” said Alvin Tam, Senior Vice President Commercial of the TAM Group. “Fresh produce is highly time-sensitive, and every stage of the journey, from booking and documentation to uplift and arrival, has to work seamlessly. We are proud to have played a role in enabling Philippine growers and exporters access new markets.” The initiative was complex in its bringing together of a broad range of stakeholders across the public and private sectors, including: Mensch FilAm Corporation – Philippine exporter and shipper of the mangoes, Department of Trade and Industry (Export Marketing Bureau) – Market development and export promotion support, Department of Agriculture – Support for Philippine mango industry development and export readiness, Air Canada – Air transportation from Manila to Vancouver, Cargo Air Resources Group of the Philippines, Inc. (A member of TAM Group) – GSA for Air Canada Cargo, coordinating with all shipment stakeholders, Airspeed International Corporation – Local logistics support in the Philippines, Fresh Makers Ltd. – Canadian receiver and distributor. The Philippine Carabao mango is one of the country’s best-known agricultural exports, recognized internationally for its distinctive sweetness, aroma, and texture. Expanding export destinations provides opportunities to diversify markets and develop additional demand for locally produced mangoes, supporting the livelihoods of Filipino growers and exporters. TAM Group has stated it remains committed to supporting Air Canada Cargo’s operations in the Philippines and to enabling Philippine businesses to reach global markets through reliable air freight solutions.
